The Old Parsonage

Fully responsive website design on WordPress and Freetobook integration for Grade II listed B&B with self-catering accommodation in Somerset

The Old Parsonage is a gorgeous bed and breakfast situated Farrington Gurney, near Wells, Somerset. In was built in 1680 it has had a colourful history with regular Royal visitors including The Prince of Wales in 1934 and King George VI in 1937.

The Old Parsonage had a poorly designed and built website that meant it was invisible from the search engines and out of date. They challenged us with creating a new website that could give visitors a real sense of their stunning property and it’s great location for those visiting the West Country. The main objective was to stimulate telephone enquiries and online bookings and particularly they wished to increase the number of bookings from business travellers.

We created a new brand identity that wrapped the name, image and historic date of the property into a classic emblem. We then built a fully responsive, visually driven, website that used the property’s imagery to convey the ambience of the house and the surrounding area to attract bookings. To get the phone to ring with enquiries we were also commissioned to undertake an SEO programme to get the website ranked organically in the search engines. They also wished for visitors to be able to book directly from the website so we integrated the Freetobook system and customised the booking engine pages to match the website. The site was built on WordPress.

The site went live on a Friday and over the weekend the phone was ringing and bookings made. Within two weeks the site is ranking on the first page of Google for their key phrases, and particularly for ‘B&B for business Bath” one of their key objectives.

“The new website is working. I have had phone calls and bookings so that is exactly what we wanted. I’ve had lots of compliments about the website and am looking forward to a full occupancy for the summer months!”
Charlotte Murray, The Old Parsonage.
